If you are flying, the closest airport is Norfolk International (ORF). The Williamsburg/Newport News Airport, Patrick Henry Field (PHF) is also a good choice - with reasonable AirTran flights to and from many cities. eMail the workshop for directions from the airport, once you have made your reservations. PHF is a 45-minute drive from Blackwater and ORF is approximately 30 minutes away.

The nearest hotel accommodations are located in the Greenbrier area of Chesapeake. Greenbrier has all of the national chains - restaurants and hotels. Fairfield Inn, Courtyard, Holiday Inn, Red Roof Inn, and some of the suites as well. They are all conveniently located just off of I-64 Greenbrier South exit. Priceline is often a good way to go, if you like a "gamble".

If you are interested in "recruiting" a travel buddy from the workshop registration list, or a roommate for lodging - let us know, and we will make an effort to play "match.com" for you, putting you in touch with others with the same wishes.

There is a Jerry's Artarama about 20 minutes away, in Virginia Beach, should you need to grab a few supplies . . . and a Michael's in Greenbrier.  Jerry's has a great selection - they are Blackwater Workshop's "official" art supply source. Michael's has a minimal fine art selection. If you choose to have your supplies shipped directly to the workshop - just give us a "head's up" and we'll be watching for them.
